What we do

Our task in Barcelona

The shop, Himalayan Paradise

The fruits from all of the work we make in Nepal, in collaboration with our Himalayan Paradise – Barcelona team, is a careful selection of products, ranging from handcrafts to teas, yoga and meditation products, ayurvedic cosmetics, books, music, tibetan bowls, buddhist art, mandalas, clothes, accessories, jewelry, pottery, organic rice paper stationary and much more, all of which are made and selected with the heart and in a fair way.

Workshops and Activities at Himalayan Paradise

We also have an other focus consisting in the organization of workshops and talks related to well-being and personal growth, and also to the cultural forms of expression of Tibet and Nepal. In our space in the Gràcia district of Barcelona we organize meditation and yoga practices, other workshops, sound travels, talks and discussions.

Molinet buddhista Nepal Tibet

Himalayan Paradise are the first in Barcelona to specialize in the spreading of knowledge about the Himalaya’s culture, traditions, art and handcrafts.

Our task in Katmandu

In order to ensure we are promoting the most equal relationships possible with our suppliers and to check that the making of our products fulfills the criteria of fair trade, we established the Himalayan Paradise-Katmandu team, led by Diwakar Joshi, who is in charge of establishing stable and lasting commercial relations with fair trade cooperatives certified and guaranteed by the WFTO (World Fair Trade Organisation).

Direct Relationship with the Producers

Our Nepal team supports and visits the production centers of the cooperatives, which can be found all over Nepal’s geography, goes and sees their community development projects and exports our products to Barcelona directly and without intermediaries. With this we help social responsibility projects to keep up with their tasks.

Collaboration with small workshops

We also work with small artisan workshops, both of nepali and tibetan exiled people, that are too small to be able to take part in the circuit of fair trade certified organizations. In these instances, the Himalayan Paradise-Kathmandu team overlooks the work conditions and makes sure that even without an official certification the criteria of fair trade are being met.

Our team is also in charge of quality control, selection and exports to Barcelona of the products, which is also done directly. Our collaboration with these small workshops has a continuity and is based on the ethic principles of fair trade, which allows them to live with dignity from the practice of their profession and ensure thus the preservation of the art, handcrafts and production techniques which are traditional in the Himalayas. With our collaboration with workshops of exiled tibetan crafters and artists we also contribute to these people’s task to ensure the survival of their culture, idiosyncrasy and traditions in exile.

In the Fair Trade section of our website you can find more information about the cooperatives and workshops we work with.
